Drawing People : It's Easier Than You Think (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)

FINES–Monday evenings (7:00 – 9:30 PM)

Want to draw people from memory? You’ll start with the basic principles: gesture, shape, placement and proportion. Explore an array of famous figure drawings and work from simple warm-up exercises to more advanced color work-ups. Click here for supply list

Portraits (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)

ROTTSOLK–Tuesday afternoons (12:30- 3:00 PM)

Enjoy the fundamentals of drawing the head. Emphasis is on form, shape and value, beginning with black/white studies and moving into color (charcoal, pastel or acrylic). Classes will work from a live model and then photographs. A one time $5 model fee  will be collected in class. Click here for supply list

Gesture Drawing (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)

ROTTSOLK–Tuesday afternoons (12:30-3:00 PM)

Refine your understanding of the human figure. Review physical proportions, construction and how the body moves. Emphasis is placed on developing quick, gesture drawings and portraying the figure in relaxed and informal poses. We will work from live models and photo references. Click here for supply list

Perspective Drawing (Beginner)

Take a few weeks to learn or fine-tune your understanding of linear perspective. This knowledge is a necessity in the creation of all artworks. We are not trying to become architects, but to incorporate the rules of perspective into our own repertoire of artistic skills available as we sit at our easels. Click here for supply list

Drawing is the ability to see in a new way. Explore the foundations of drawing. Learn new skills or reacquaint yourself with techniques that are the underpinnings for all works of art. Basic drawing media (pencil, charcoal and ink) will be employed with the emphasis placed on the process of seeing the world with an artist’s eye. Click here for supply list

MASSION–Monday afternoons (12:30 - 3:00 PM)

Explore oil painting techniques of “Fat over Thin” and “Thick over Thin.” Improve your painting with a study of values and “Warm vs. Cool” color theory. Work from your own or instructor supplied photos. Bring works in progress for a personalized critique. Beginners accepted with teacher’s approval.

Rescue Those Castaways (Intermediate, Advanced)

FRANCE–Wednesday afternoons (1:00 - 3:30 PM)

Round up all those unfinished and unfulfilled paintings that are relegated to the dark corner of your studio and make them ready for prime wall space! Our class will focus on critiques and direction to help you improve, refine, and complete those works that may have stumped you. Even if everything in your studio is finished, please join us for some great painting time.

Water and Sky in Oils (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)

Beginning through advanced students will unlock the mystery and excitement of painting sky, land and sea. This class is taught by accomplished maritime artist Eric Nils Forsberg.

Get an understanding of how to work I n oil. Working from your own reference, be ready to learn how to approach color, composition, perspective and brushwork. Open to beginners through advanced students. Eric, a nationally known maritime and seascape artist, will be happy to critique and provide individual assistance.
