During this class, we will explore how to paint skies and clouds at different times of day. From dramatic, colorful sunsets to the subtle shifts in value that make clouds feel light and airy, you will learn how to capture the beauty of the sky using the versatile medium of pastel.

Working from instructor-provided photographs (or your own reference photos with strong lighting), students will experiment with a variety of mark-making techniques and gain a deeper understanding of what makes a successful painting. Discover the versatility and enduring appeal of pastel while learning how to express yourself through both bold, expressive strokes and subtle shifts in color temperature that create lively, believable skies.
