PASTEL PAINTING IN 3 STEPS      Friday Afternoons     Max Class Size: 12

Pastel painting has seen some relatively new advances, along with improved types of pastels and painting surfaces. In this class, you can be either a soft/dry pastel or an oil pastel painter. Come join us as a beginner or beyond. We will focus on three classic steps to build a pastel painting:
Step 1. Establishing a limited palette based on values
Step 2. Including a gestural underpainting as the first stage of the painting
Step 3. Developing the pastel painting with a focus on Shapes, Values, Edges, Colors, and Textures
You will also learn updated presentation skills for framing and how to use your phone to see values and take good
photos of your work. Believe it or not, knowing how to draw is always helpful, but not required for this class. B.I.A.
